Line Pressure Test: Notes
Purpose of this test is to check operating conditions of each part by measuring fluid pressure in fluid pressure line.
Line pressure test requires the following conditions.
- CVT fluid is at normal operating temperature (70 - 80 °C/158 - 176 °F).
- CVT fluid is replenished to proper level (between full and low on dipstick).
- A/C switch is turned OFF.
- Check CVT fluid level, see CVT Fluid Check .
- Apply parking brake securely and place chocks against wheels.
- Remove fluid pressure check hole bolt (1).
- Attach oil pressure gauge to fluid pressure check hole (2) in transaxle case.CAUTION: If fluid is leaking from the oil pressure gauge connection, accurate readings cannot be obtained. Make sure that no fluid is leaking after attaching the oil pressure gauge.
Special Tool
(A): 09925-37910
- Depress foot brake fully, run engine at idle and stall then check fluid pressure in "D" or "R" range.CAUTION: If you do not take proper precautions during line pressure tests, a CVT failure may result due to an excessive rise in CVT fluid temperature.
- Do not continue running the engine for longer than 5 seconds at stall speed.
- After performing a line pressure test, be sure to allow the engine to run at idle for longer than 1 minute before performing another line pressure test.

SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS DESCRIPTION CHART"D" range "R" range At idle speed 0.5 - 1.0 MPa (5.1 - 10.2 kgf/cm2, 72.5 - 145 psi, 5 - 10 bar) At stall speed (Reference) 4.9 - 6.1 MPa (50.0 - 62.2 kgf/cm2, 710 - 884 psi, 49 - 61 bar) - If check result is OK, disconnect special tool, then tighten fluid pressure check hole bolt to specified torque.
