Software Reinstall

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 Tesla Model S, 2023 Tesla Model S, 2022 Tesla Model S, and 2021 Tesla Model S. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Vehicle software version 2023.12 or newer is required in order to perform this procedure.
  1. Connect the LV maintainer to the vehicle, but do not disconnect the LV battery. See LV Maintainer (Connect and Disconnect) .
    NOTE: It is OK for the LV maintainer and LV battery to both be connected while performing this procedure.
  2. Enable Service Mode. See Service Mode (Enable And Disable) .
  3. In the Service Mode menu, touch Software Reinstall  .
  4. Read the prompt, and then touch REINSTALL  .
  5. Once the reinstallation is complete, check that the release notes appear on the touchscreen, indicating a successful reinstallation.
  6. Disconnect the LV maintainer from the vehicle. See LV Maintainer (Connect and Disconnect) .
  7. Disable Service Mode. See Service Mode (Enable And Disable) .
  8. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
