Subframe Assembly - Front - Remove And Install: Install

- Move the subframe lifting tool and front subframe in to under the vehicle.
- Connect the shop supply air to the subframe lifting tool.
- With the help of an assistant, carefully raise the front subframe into the vehicle.NOTE: Hold the knuckles aside, and guide the active damper forks around suspension links.
- Hand-tighten the bolts located at the front of the front subframe.NOTE: Depending on the vehicle manufacture date, the front-most bolts might be as follows (16 mm or 18 mm):
- M12 1.75 x 75 bolt (1063242-00-B) and M12 x 24 x 2.5 washer (1103852-00-A)
- M12 1.75 x 115 bolt (1608611-00-C)
NOTE: Hand-tighten the bolts, and then use a battery powered drill to continue fastening the bolts. Do not tighten fully. Fully tighten the bolts at later step. - Lower the subframe lift, disconnect the shop supply air, and move the lift out from under the vehicle.
- Hand-tighten the rear bolts of the front subframe.NOTE: 21 mm. Depending on the vehicle manufacture date, the rear bolts might be as follows:
- M14 2.0 x 58 (1133941-00-C)
- M14 2.0 x 67 (1638540-00-A)
NOTE: Hand-tighten the bolts, and then use a battery powered drill to continue fastening the bolts. Do not tighten fully. Fully tighten the bolts at later step. - Tighten the front subframe bolts.NOTE: 16 mm or 18 mm bolts: 80 N.mNOTE: 21 mm bolts: Depending on the vehicle manufacture date, the torque rating of the bolts is as follows:
- M14 2.0 x 58 (1133941-00-C): 115 N.m
- M14 2.0 x 67 (1638540-00-A): 145 N.m
- Install the LH tie rod into the LH front knuckle, and then install a new nyloc nut to attach the tie rod to the knuckle.
102 N.m (75.2 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 21 mm socket
- Install the LH fore link to the LH front knuckle, and then install a new nyloc nut to attach the fore link to the knuckle.
180 N.m (132.7 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 22 mm socket
- Torx T45 socket
NOTE: To prevent ball joint damage, use a T45 tool to prevent the LH fore link ball joint stud from turning while installing the nut. - Install the LH aft link to the LH front knuckle, and then install a new nut to attach the aft link to the knuckle.
180 N.m (132.7 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 22 mm socket
- Torx T45 socket
NOTE: To prevent ball joint damage, use a T45 tool to prevent the LH aft link ball joint stud from turning while installing the nut. - Install and hand tighten the nut and bolt that attach the LH front active damper to the front lower aft link.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 21 mm socket
- 21 mm combination wrench
NOTE: The nut and bolt will be torqued during the alignment check. - Install the LH front stabilizer bar link into the front stabilizer bar, and then install a new nyloc nut that attaches the link to the stabilizer bar.
70 N.m (51.6 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 15 mm socket
- 5 mm hex
NOTE: To prevent ball joint damage, use a 5 mm hex wrench to prevent the LH link ball joint stud from turning while installing the nut. - Fasten the clips (x2) that attach the LH front ANC connection onto the knuckle.
- Connect the electrical harness to the LH front wheel speed sensor connector.
- Repeat step 8 through step for the RH side of the vehicle.
- Bring the electrical harness to the front subframe, and then fasten the clips (x3) that attach the electrical harness to the subframe.
- Connect the steering rack electrical connectors (x2), and then slide the red locking tab.
- Connect the electrical harness to the EPAS CAN connectors (x2), and then slide the red locking tabs.
- Slide the steering column intermediate shaft down and onto the steering rack input shaft.
- Install the bolt that attaches the steering column intermediate shaft to the steering rack input shaft.
30 N.m (22.1 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
- Install the front skid plate. See SKIDPLATE - FRONT (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
- Install the front fascia valance. See Valance - Front Fascia (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the LH and RH front wheels. See Wheel (Remove and Install) .
- Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) .
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the vehicle from the 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift .
- Calibrate the rear doors.NOTE: If the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors.
- Remove the steering wheel holder from the vehicle.
- Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine if an alignment check (AC) or full adjustment (FA) is necessary. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension .
