Car Computer, LHD - Remove And Install: Remove

  1. Remove the rear underhood apron. See UNDERHOOD TRIM - REAR APRON ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  2. Disconnect the LV battery power. See LV BATTERY - LI-LON - DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
  3. Remove the underhood storage unit. See EXTERIOR FITTINGS - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM - FRONT LUGGAGE STORAGE COMPARTMENT - FRUNK ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  4. Remove the fresh air intake duct. See CABIN HVAC - HVAC, FRESH AIR INTAKE - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  5. Place absorbent material below the car computer coolant hose connections to collect any spilled coolant.
  6. Release the clips (x2) on the coolant hoses connected to the car computer mount, and then disconnect the coolant hoses from the car computer.

  7. Plug the female fittings of the coolant hoses.
    NOTE: Plug the fittings as soon as possible to avoid coolant loss.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 1135762-00-A Kit, Svc Plug, Cooling Hose, Model 3
  8. Install the car computer fluid port plug over the car computer coolant fittings.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 1119171-00-A Plug, Car Computer Fluid Port
  9. Remove the nuts (x3) and the bolts (x2) that attach the car computer to the body, and discard the nuts.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 10 in extension
    • 6 in extension
    • 13 mm socket

  10. Remove the passenger footwell cover. See DASH PANEL - PASSENGER FOOTWELL COVER ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  11. Remove the RH instrument panel end cap. See DASH PANEL - END CAP, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  12. If equipped, remove the passenger knee airbag. See FRONT AIR BAGS - KNEE AIR BAG, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  13. Remove the glove box. See DASH PANEL - GLOVE BOX WITH USB ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
    NOTE: No need to remove the glove box USB cable.
  14. Remove the RH footwell duct. See INTERIOR DUCTING AND VENTS - IP, PASSENGER FOOTWELL DUCT - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  15. Remove the RH air wave duct. See INTERIOR DUCTING AND VENTS - IP, AIR, WAVE, DUCT, RH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  16. Disconnect the connector on the front passenger air bag.

  17. Disconnect the connectors (x4) on the front side of the car computer.

  18. Disconnect the connectors (x5) on the left side of the car computer.

  19. Release the harness clips (x5) from the left, the top, and the lower of the car computer.

  20. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the ground strap to the car computer.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 8 mm 12pt combination wrench
    • Torx T25 socket

  21. Remove the nut that attaches the car computer to the body.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 10 in extension
    • 6 in extension
    • 13 mm socket

  22. Slide the car computer inward to gain access to the connectors.

    Tip: With the right hand on top of the car computer and left hand under the car computer, use the right hand to help push the airbag up and towards the rear of the vehicle to provide clearance for the visor

  23. Disconnect the connectors (x5) from the right side of the car computer, and remove the car computer from the vehicle.
