Throttle Position Sensor

  1. Loosen TPS mounting screws. Unplug TPS and connect ohmmeter between throttle position sensor "IDL" and "E2" terminals. See Fig 1-12. On Supra, "E2" is Brown wire and "IDL" is Yellow/Blue wire. On Cressida, insert .028" (.71 mm) thickness feeler gauge between throttle stop screw and lever.
  2. On Land Cruiser models, use a .037" (.93 mm) thickness feeler gauge. On Supra non-turbo models, use a .023" (.58 mm) thickness feeler gauge or a .028" (.71 mm) thickness feeler gauge on turbo models.
  3. On all models, with no continuity existing, rotate TPS clockwise until continuity exists. Tighten mounting screws. Using specified feeler gauge, recheck adjustment. See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR ADJUSTMENT table. Remove ohmmeter and connect TPS.
