Alternator & Regulator: Description
WARNING:
Before performing service procedures on vehicle, disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting negative battery cable to avoid accidental air bag deployment on models so equipped.
Nippondenso 3-phase alternators use 3 positive and 3 negative diodes to rectify current. Internal Integrated Circuit (IC) voltage regulator controls charging system voltage. Corolla uses an engine main relay in charging circuit. MR2 uses an ignition main relay in charging circuit. Land Cruiser uses a charge light relay in charging circuit.
