Test 4: Speed Sensor Circuit

  1. Perform VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR test under CRUISE CONTROL CIRCUIT FUNCTION TEST . If speed sensor input signal is specified, go to test for next trouble code displayed. If input signals are not as specified, go to next step.
  2. Locate speed sensor on transaxle and remove speed sensor. Disconnect 3-pin connector. Connect positive battery lead to sensor terminal No. 1 (Red/Blue wire). Connect negative battery lead to sensor terminal No. 2 (Red/Green wire). Connect voltmeter positive lead to sensor terminal No. 3 (Red/Yellow wire) and voltmeter negative lead to sensor terminal No. 2. Ensure a change of 0-11 volts or more occurs as sensor shaft is rotated. Voltage should change 20 times per each rotation. If sensor operation is not as specified, replace sensor.
  3. If continuity is not present, repair open or short in harness circuit between CC ECU connector terminal No. 20 (Violet/White wire) and speed sensor or between combination meter Blue 13-pin connector terminal No. A9 (Violet/White wire) and speed sensor.
