Fuel Pump Relay

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Remove fuel pump relay. See FUEL PUMP RELAY LOCATION  table.
    NOTE: Fuel pump relay may be identified using appropriate illustration in THEORY/OPERATION - 2.0L TURBO article or wire color. See wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS article.

    Application Location
    Turbo Driver's Side Rear Corner Of Engine Bay, Near Fuse Box & Contains Black 4-Wire Connector
  2. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between specified terminals. See Fig 1.
  3. Check fuel pump relay operation by applying battery voltage and ground and checking continuity between specified terminals. See Fig 2. Replace fuel pump relay if defective.
