Without Hand-Held Tester

  1. Using special tool (09843-18020 or 18040), connect terminals Tc and E1 of DLC1 or Tc and CG of DLC3. See Fig 1.
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON. Read the DTC from the ABS or VSC TRAC warning light on the combination meter. For the blinking patterns for normal and codes 11 and 21 see Fig 2.
  3. For diagnostic trouble code definitions see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
  4. If 2 or more malfunctions are indicated at the same time the lowest numbered DTC will be displayed first.
  5. If a code does not appear, inspect the Tc circuit, ABS or VSC TRAC warning light circuit. See SYSTEM TESTING .
  6. After completing the check, disconnect terminals Tc and E1 of DLC1 or Tc and CG of DLC3.
