System Tests: Notes

NOTE: Before proceeding with any system test, ensure proper trouble shooting procedure was performed. See TROUBLE SHOOTING PROCEDURE  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If all systems are not operating, perform TEST NO. 17: BODY ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT DOES NOT OPERATE  to verify operation of body Electronic Control Unit (ECU). It may be necessary to check multiplex control system wiring circuits between body Electronic Control Unit (ECU), Engine Control Module (ECM) and combination meter to verify proper operation of multiplex communication system. See Fig 1. For combination meter electrical connector and terminal identification, see Fig 2. For ECM location and electrical connector identification, see Fig 3.

(1) Two-operation unlock function unlocks all doors. When using the key and turning driver's door lock once, only driver's door will unlock. Turning driver's door lock twice in succession will unlock all the doors simultaneously.
(2) Key confinement prevention function prevents the doors from being locked if ignition key is in the ignition lock cylinder.
(3) Automatic lock function allows 30 seconds to open the door once the door is unlocked with the keyless entry remote transmitter or the door will be locked again.
