Test B: Key Confinement Prevention Function Does Not Work Properly

  1. Operate power door lock system using manual switch located at door. If power door lock system is inoperative, see appropriate POWER WINDOW SYSTEMS article. If power door lock system operates normally, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect key unlock warning switch 2-pin harness connector. Check for continuity between key unlock warning switch connector terminals. With key in switch, continuity should exist. With key removed, continuity should not exist. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace key unlock warning switch. See POWER DOOR LOCKS - TRUCKS article.
  3. Disconnect key unlock warning switch 2-pin harness connector. Measure voltage between ground and key unlock warning switch harness connector terminal No. 2 (Violet wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace multiplex network body ECU. See appropriate MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEMS article. After repair, recheck system operation.
  4. Disconnect key unlock warning switch 2-pin harness connector. Check for continuity between ground and key unlock warning switch harness connector terminal No. 1 (White/Black wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair White/Black wire as necessary. After repair, recheck system operation.
  5. Check operation of door open warning light. If door open warning light does not illuminate when door is opened, go to next step. If door open warning light illuminates when door is opened, replace multiplex network body ECU. See appropriate MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEMS article. After repair, recheck system operation.
  6. Disconnect door courtesy light switch 2-pin harness connector. Check door courtesy light switch for continuity. With door closed (button depressed), continuity should not exist. With door open (button released), continuity should exist. If continuity is as specified, repair or replace door courtesy light switch harness and/or connector as necessary. If continuity is not as specified, replace door courtesy light switch. After repair, check system for normal operation.
