Remote Transmitter

  1. Remove battery and replace with new battery. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER BATTERY REPLACEMENT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If new battery is not available, connect 2 new 1.5-volt batteries in series. Using jumper wires, connect positive lead to positive (side) terminal of remote transmitter and connect negative lead to negative (bottom) terminal of remote transmitter. See Fig 1.
  2. Stand about 3 feet from outside door handle on driver door. Point remote transmitter toward vehicle. Depress any remote transmitter button for about one-second. If doors or luggage compartment respond properly, remote transmitter is okay. Check condition of original battery. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER BATTERY CHECK . If doors or luggage compartment do not respond properly, replace remote transmitter.
