Self-Diagnostic System: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Toyota Camry and 2002 Toyota Camry. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The wireless door lock control system has two levels of diagnostics; the body control ECU and the wireless door lock control system. The body control ECU maintains information on all systems under its control and the wireless door lock control system maintains information on wireless door lock control system components under its control.

Diagnosis should start at the body control ECU level because it is the highest authority. The body control ECU diagnostic process consists of the body control ECU basic inspection to ensure the body control ECU is operating properly; retrieving diagnostic trouble codes when the system is operating properly; clearing diagnostic trouble codes after the repair has been identified and confirmation that repair resolved the complaint.

If body control ECU does not exhibit any stored codes, the wireless door lock control system can provide limited diagnostic information. Diagnose the wireless door lock control system AFTER confirming no DTCs exist for the wireless door lock control system in the body control ECU.
