Key Confinement Prevention Function

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Toyota Camry and 2002 Toyota Camry. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: This function prevents locking of doors if key is left in ignition switch with driver door open. Open driver window to prevent locking keys inside vehicle if confinement prevention function does not work properly.
  1. Insert key into ignition switch. With driver door open, ensure all doors will immediately unlock if driver door lock knob is moved to LOCK position. Also ensure all doors will immediately unlock if driver door power door lock switch is moved to LOCK position.
  2. With key still in ignition switch and driver door open, lock driver door by holding driver door lock knob in LOCK position for 2 seconds or more and then close driver door. All doors should unlock. If key confinement prevention function operates properly, check security function. See SECURITY FUNCTION .
