Speed Sensor Diagnostics

  1. Ensure battery voltage exists. Turn ignition OFF. Using special tool (09843-18040), connect terminals Ts and CG if DLC3. See Figure. Start engine. Check ABS warning light blinks. If warning light does not blink, inspect ABS warning light circuit. See ABS WARNING LIGHT  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Drive vehicle straight forward at a speed faster than 28 mph for several seconds and check that ABS warning light goes OFF. Stop vehicle. Using tool, connect terminals Ts and CG of DLC3. Turn ignition switch ON. Read number of blinks of ABS warning light.
NOTE: The sensor check may not be completed if front wheels are spun or steering wheel is turned during check.
  3. For list of DTC and definitions, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If every sensor is normal, a normal code is output. (A cycle of.25 seconds ON and.25 seconds OFF is repeated). If 2 or more malfunctions are identified at the same time, the lowest numbered code will be displayed first. After doing check, disconnect hand-held tester and turn ignition switch OFF.
