Inspection Procedure

  1. Input signal check. 

    PREPARATION: 

    See the input signal check in PRE-CHECK .

    CHECK: 

    Check the indicator light operation when each of the SET/COAST, RESUME/ACCEL and CANCEL is turned on.

    OK: 

    1. SET/COAST, RESUME/ACCEL switch 
    2. The signals shown in the table on the left should be output when each switch is ON. The signal should disappear when the switch is turned OFF. 
    3. CANCEL switch 
    4. The indicator light goes off when the cancel switch is turned ON. 

    OK: Wait and see. 

    NG: Go to Next Step. 

  2. Check voltage between terminals CCS of cruise control ECU connector and body ground.

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Remove the ECU with the connector being.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    CHECK: 

    Measure the voltage between terminals 18 of the ECU connector and body ground when each of the SET/COAST, RESUME/ ACCEL and CANCEL is turned ON.

    SWITCH VOLTAGE

    Switch Position Voltage (V)
    Neutral 10 - 16 V
    MAIN Below 0.5 V
    RES/ACC 2.0 - 4.6 V
    SET/COAST 4.0 - 7.9 V
    CANCEL 6.0 - 11.0 V

    NG: Proceed to next circuit inspection shown in problem symptoms table (See  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ). 

    OK: Go to Next Step. 

  3. Check control switch. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Remove the steering wheel center pad.
    2. Disconnect the control switch connector.

    CHECK: 

    Measure the resistance between terminals 3 and 4 of the control switch connector when the control switch is operated.

    SWITCH RESISTANCE

    Switch Position Resistance (Ω)
    Neutral Infinity (No Continuity)
    RES/ACC 220 - 260
    SET/COAST 610 - 650
    CANCEL 1520- 1560

    NG: Replace control switch. 

    OK: Go to Next Step. 

  4. Check harness and connector between cruise control ECU and cruise control switch, and cruise control switch and body ground (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 

    NG: Repair or replace harness or connector. 

    OK: Go to Next Step. 

  5. Input signal check (See   3 ). 

    OK: Wait and see. 

    NG: Check and replace cruise control ECU (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ).
