Back Door Glass: Installation

  1. CLEAN AND SHAPE CONTACT SURFACE OF BODY

    1. Using a knife, cut away any rough areas on the body.
      NOTE: Leave as much of the adhesive on the body as possible.
    2. Clean the cutting surface of the adhesive with a piece of shop rag saturated in cleaner.
      NOTE: Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the body.
  2. CLEAN REMOVED GLASS 
    1. Remove the damaged spacers.
    2. , remove the adhesive sticking to the glass.

    4. Clean the glass with cleaner.
      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to damage the glass.
      • Do not touch the glass after cleaning it.
  3. INSTALL NEW SPACERS

    Attach 2 new spacers on the edge of the glass as shown in the illustration.

  4. POSITION GLASS 
    1. Place the glass in correct position.

    3. Check that all contacting parts of the glass rim are perfectly even and do not make contact with the fasteners.
    4. Place the reference marks between the glass and body.
    5. Remove the glass.
  5. INSTALL NEW DAMS AND OUTSIDE LOWER MOULDING 

    Install 2 new dams and the outside lower moulding with adhesive tape as shown in the illustration.

    1. A: 5.2 mm (0.205 in.) 
    2. B: 5.2 mm (0.205 in.) 
    3. C: 1.7 mm (0.067 in.) 
  6. COAT CONTACT SURFACE OF BODY WITH PRIMER "M" 

    Using a brush, coat Primer M to the exposed part of body on the vehicle side.

    NOTE:
    • Allow 3 minutes or more to dry the primer coated surface.
    • Do not coat Primer M to the adhesive.
    • Do not keep any of the opened Primer M for later use.
  7. COAT CONTACT SURFACE OF GLASS WITH PRIMER "G"

    1. Using a brush or sponge, coat the edge of the glass and the contact surface with Primer G as shown in the illustration.
    2. When the primer is coated wrongly to the area other than the specified, wipe it off with a clean shop rag before the primer dries.
    NOTE:
    • Allow 3 minutes or more to dry the primer coated surface.
    • Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use.
  8. APPLY ADHESIVE 
    1. Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle.

      Part No. 08850-00801 or equivalent 

      NOTE: After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time described in the table below.
      ADHESIVE USE TEMPERATURE AND TIME

      Temperature Tackfree Time
      35°C(95°F) 15 Minutes
      20°C(68°F) 100 Minutes
      5°C(41°F) 8 Hours
    2. Load the cartridge into the sealer gun.
    3. Coat the glass with adhesive as shown in the illustration.
    1. A: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.) 
    2. B: 8.0 mm (0.315 in.) 
  9. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS
    1. Install the back door glass to the back door.

      NOTE: Confirm that the dams is attached to the back door panel.
    2. Hold the back door glass in place securely with a protective tape or equivalent until the adhesive hardens.
      NOTE: Take care not to drive the vehicle during the time described in the table below.
      ADHESIVE DRYING TIME BEFORE VEHICLE USE

      Temperature Minimum Time Prior To Driving The Vehicle
      35°C(95°F) 1.5 Hours
      20°C(68°F) 5 Hours
      5°C(41°F) 24 Hours
  10. INSPECT FOR LEAKS AND REPAIR 
    1. Conduct a leak test after the hardening time has elapsed.
    2. Seal any leak with auto glass sealer.

    Part No. 08833-00030 or equivalent 

  11. INSTALL WIPER ARM 
  12. INSTALL STOP LIGHT 
  13. INSTALL UPPER SIDE GARNISHES

  14. INSTALL STOP LIGHT COVER 
  15. INSTALL BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD
