Component Tests: Speedometer

  1. On-Vehicle Inspection -  Using a speedometer tester, inspect the speedometer for allowable indication error and check the operation of the odometer. Tire wear and tire over or under inflation will increase the indication error. See INSPECTING SPEEDOMETER ON-VEHICLE  table. If the error is excessive, replace the speedometer. See COMBINATION METER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

  2. Resistance Inspection -  Measure the resistance between terminals with fixing pointer to the stopper. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . See INSPECTING RESISTANCE WITH FIXING POINTER TO STOPPER  table. If resistance value is not as specified, replace the meter. See COMBINATION METER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
