Section 587 (Instrument Panel): Removal

- REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE
- Remove the 4 screws and front door scuff plate.
- Use the same manner described above to the other side.
- REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD
- Remove the nut and cowl side trim board.
- Use the same manner described above to the other side.
- REMOVE SIDE PANEL
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH
- Remove the assist grip.
- (1) Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 assist grip plugs.NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- (2) Remove the 2 screws and assist grip.
- (1) Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 assist grip plugs.
- Remove the front pillar garnish.
- Use the same manner described above to the other side.
- Remove the assist grip.
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL PAD (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVERS (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE COMBINATION SWITCH
Disconnect the 4 connectors, remove the 3 screws and combination switch.
- REMOVE LOWER FINISH PANEL
- Remove the 2 screws and hood lock release lever.
- Remove the 4 bolts and lower finish panel.
- REMOVE SWITCH BASE
Using a screwdriver, lift up the switch base and remove it.
NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use. - REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
Remove the 2 screws and cluster finish panel.
- REMOVE COMBINATION METER
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Remove the combination meter and disconnect the 4 connectors.
- REMOVE INTEGRATION CONTROL PANEL
- Remove the 2 screws as shown in the illustration.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the integration panel, then disconnect the connectors.NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE RADIO TUNER ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the 8 bolts and radio tuner assembly.
- REMOVE AIR CONDITIONER CONTROL ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- DISCONNECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.- Using a clip remover, disengage the connector clamp.
- Disconnect the connector as shown in the illustration.
- REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR
Remove the 2 screws and glove compartment door.
- REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 FINISH PANEL
Remove the 3 screws and lower No. 2 finish panel.
- REMOVE SHIFTING HOLE COVER
- 4WD:
Remove the transfer shift lever knob.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the shifting hole cover.NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- 4WD:
- REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL
- w/ Seat heater:
Using a screwdriver, remove the seat heater switches, then disconnect the connectors.
NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use. - Using a screwdriver, remove the power mirror control switch, then disconnect the connector.NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the upper console panel.NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- w/ Seat heater:
- REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX
- w/ Rear heater A/C:
Using a screwdriver, remove the rear heater control panel, then disconnect the connector.
NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use. - w/ Headphone terminal.
Using a screwdriver, remove the headphone terminal, the connector.
- w/ Rear seat entertainment:
- Remove the disc bracket.
- Remove the 3 bolts and disc player.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the 4 bolts and rear console box.
- w/ Rear heater A/C:
- REMOVE CONSOLE BOX POCKET
Using a screwdriver, remove the console box pocket.
NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use. - REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX
Remove the 2 bolts, 2 clips and front console box.
- REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT COVER
- Remove the 4 bolts and 3 screws.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the lower instrument cover.NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 2 bolts holding the front passenger airbag assembly and instrument panel.
Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
- Remove the 1 bolt holding the front passenger airbag assembly and instrument panel reinforcement.
Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
CAUTION:- Do not store the front passenger airbag assembly with the airbag deployment side facing down.
- Never disassemble the front passenger airbag assembly.
- Remove the 2 bolts holding the front passenger airbag assembly and instrument panel.
- REMOVE NO. 4 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL
- Remove the nut.
- Disconnect the connectors and remove instrument panel.
- REMOVE CENTER HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT
- Disconnect the connectors.
- Remove the screw and running light relay.
- Remove the 3 bolts, nut and No. 1 brace.
- Remove the bolt, nut and No. 2 brace.
- Remove the 3 bolts, 4 nuts and instrument panel reinforcement.
