Section 629 (Combination Meter - Diagnostics): Pre-Check

  1. DATA LIST 

    HINT:

    According to the DATA LIST displayed by the Hand-held tester, you can read the value of the switch, sensor, actuator and so on without parts removal. Reading the DATA LIST as a first step of troubleshooting is one of the method to shorten the labor time.

    1. Warm up the engine.
    2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    3. Connect the Hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    5. According to the display on tester, read the "DATA LIST".

    ENGINE SPD Engine speed / Min.: 0 rpm, Max.: 16,383 rpm Almost same as actual engine speed (When engine is running) -
    COOLANT TEMP Coolant Temperature / Min.: -40°C (-40°F), Max.: 140°C (284°F) After warming up: 80 to 95°C (176 to 203°F) If the value is "-40°C (-40°F)" or "140°C (284°F)", sensor circuit is open or shorted.
