Inspection Procedure

  1. Check ODMS circuit. 

    When using the hand-held tester: 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    CHECK: 

    Read the OVERDRV CUT SW2 signal on the hand-held tester.

    1. OK: 
    O/D MAIN SWITCH DISPLAY

    O/D Main Switch Display
    Pressed when O/D ON OFF
    Pressed when O/D OFF ON

    When not using the hand-held tester: 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Disconnect the E4 ECM connector (5VZ-FE).
    2. Disconnect the E3 ECM connector (2UZ-FE).

    CHECK: 

    Measure the resistance between the terminal ODMS of the ECM connector and the body ground.

    1. OK: 
    O/D MAIN SWITCH DISPLAY

    O/D Main Switch Specified Condition
    Pressed when O/D ON Below 1 Ω
    Pressed when O/D OFF 10 kΩ or higher

    1. OK: Check and replace ECM (see  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    2. NG: Go To Next Step 
  2. Check O/D main switch. 

    PREPARATION: 

    Disconnect the O/D main switch connector.

    CHECK: 

    Measure the resistance between the terminal 1 and 3 of the O/D main switch connector.

    1. Standard: 
    O/D MAIN SWITCH SPECIFIC CONDITION

    O/D Main Switch Specified Condition
    Pressed when ON position Below 1 Ω
    Pressed when OFF position 10 kΩ or higher

    OK: 

    Standard

    1. NG: Replace O/D main switch. 
    2. OK: Repair or replace harness and connector between ECM and O/D main switch.
