Power Window Control System (Diagnostics): Inspection

  1. INSPECT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY (DOUBLE CAB): 
    1. Remove the power window regulator master switch assy.
    2. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the connector when the switch is operated.

      Standard (Driver switch): 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE

    3. Check the power window regulator master switch AUTO lamp.

      OK:

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 7 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 1 AUTO lamp illuminates
    4. Reinstall the power window regulator master switch assy. If the result is not as specified, replace the master switch assy.
  2. INSPECT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY (ACCESS CAB): 
    1. Remove the power window regulator master switch assy.
    2. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the connector when the switch is operated.

      Standard (Driver switch):

      Standard (Passenger switch):

    3. Check the power window regulator master switch AUTO lamp.

      OK: 

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 9 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 1 AUTO lamp illuminates
    4. Reinstall the power window regulator master switch assy.

    If the result is not as specified, replace the master switch assy.

  3. INSPECT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Remove the power window switch assy.
    2. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the connector when the switch is operated.

      Standard (Passenger Side): 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE

      Switch Condition Tester Connection Specified Condition
      UP 1-2 3-4 Below 1Ω
      OFF 1-2 3-5 Below 1Ω
      DOWN 1-4 3-5 Below 1Ω

      Standard (Rear Side): 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE

      Switch Condition Tester Connection Specified Condition
      UP 1-3 4-5 Below 1Ω
      OFF 1-2 4-5 Below 1Ω
      DOWN 1-2 3-5 Below 1Ω
    3. Reinstall the power window switch assy.

    If the result is not as specified, replace the regulator switch assy.

  4. INSPECT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSY 
    1. Check operation of the power window regulator motor.
      1. Remove the power window regulator motor.
      2. Apply battery voltage to the motor terminals.
      3. Check that the motor operates smoothly.
        NOTE: Do not apply battery voltage to any terminals except terminals 1 and 2.

        OK (Driver side): 

        MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE

        Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 2 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 1 Motor gear rotates clockwise
        Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 1 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 2 Motor gear rotates counterclockwise

        OK (Passenger side): 

        MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE

        Battery positive (+) --> Terminal Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 2 Motor gear rotates clockwise
        Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 2 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 1 Motor gear rotates counterclockwise

        OK (Rear LH side): 

        MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE

        Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 2 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 1 Motor gear rotates clockwise
        Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 1 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 2 Motor gear rotates counterclockwise

        OK (Rear RH side) 

        MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE

        Measurement Condition Specified Condition
        Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 1 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 2 Motor gear rotates clockwise
        Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 2 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 1 Motor gear rotates counterclockwise
      4. Reinstall the power window regulator motor.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the motor assy.

    2. Check the DTC operation inside the regulator motor.
      NOTE: The work must be performed with the power window regulator and door glass installed in the vehicle.
      1. Disconnect the driver side power window regulator motor.
      2. Connect the ammeter positive (+) lead to terminal 2 of the wire harness side connector and the negative (-) lead to battery negative terminal.
      3. Connect the battery positive (+) lead to terminal 1 of the wire harness side connector, and raise the window to the fully closed position.
      4. Continue to apply voltage, and check that the current changes to less than 1 A within 4 to 90 seconds.
      5. Disconnect the leads from the terminals.
      6. Approximately 60 seconds later, connect the battery positive (+) lead to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1, and check that the window begins to descend.

    If the result is not as specified, replace the motor assy.

  5. INSPECT RELAY (P/W) 
    1. Remove the P/W relay from the driver side J/B.
    2. Measure the resistance.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      3-5 10 k or higher
      3-5 Below 1Ω (when battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2)

    3. Reinstall the P/W relay.

    If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.
