Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor: Inspection

  1. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 
    1. Measure the resistance of the sensor.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 2.32 to 2.59 kΩ
      1 - 2 80°C (176°F) 0.310 to 0.326 kΩ
      NOTE: If checking the sensor in water, be careful not to allow water to contact the terminals. After checking, dry the sensor.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.
