System Outline
- Setting
< In vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode >
If the vehicle is being driven while the ON-OFF SW is ON (The cruise indicator is lit), the vehicle speed is above the lower settable speed limit and then the - SET SW is operated, the vehicle speed at the moment the SW is released will be recorded as the set speed and the control activates. However, if the SW is operated at a speed above the higher settable speed limit, then the higher settable speed is recorded as the set speed when the control starts.
< In constant speed control mode >
If the vehicle is being driven while the ON-OFF SW is ON (The cruise indicator is lit), the vehicle speed is between the lower settable speed limit and the higher settable speed limit, and then the - SET SW is operated, the vehicle speed at the moment the SW is released will be recorded as the set speed and the control starts.
- Changing Method of the Set Speed
< In vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode >
- How to lower the set speed
* While driving with the cruise control active, and the - SET SW is pressed momentarily (For approximately 0.6 seconds), the set speed will be decreased in increments of 5 km/h every time the SW is operated.
* When the - SET SW is held down, the set speed will be decreased gradually and continuously in increments of 5 km/h until the SW is released.
* However, if the set speed reaches the lower settable speed limit, then the set speed cannot be decreased any further.
* When the set speed is changed, the vehicle will be decelerated to that speed (In some cases, the vehicle may be accelerated).
* If the - SET SW is released when the vehicle speed exceeds the higher settable speed limit while the vehicle is being driven down a slope, the higher settable speed limit is stored in the memory as the set speed.
- How to raise the set speed
* While driving with the cruise control active, when the + RES SW is pressed momentarily (For approximately 0.6 seconds), the set speed will be increased in increments of 5 km/h every time the SW is operated.
* When the SW is held down, the set speed will be increased gradually and continuously in increments of 5 km/h until the SW is released.
* However, if the set speed reaches the higher settable speed limit, the set speed cannot be increased any further.
NOTE: The vehicle speed at the time the - SET SW is released will not be stored if the - SET SW was pressed when the vehicle was being accelerated by depressing the accelerator pedal. In such cases, the set speed will be decreased by 5 km/h as described above.
< In constant speed control mode >
- Deceleration
* While driving with the cruise control active, pressing the - SET SW will gradually and continually decelerate the vehicle as long as the SW is held down. The vehicle speed will then be controlled using the vehicle speed at the time the SW is released as the set speed.
* If the - SET SW is released when the vehicle speed exceeds the higher settable speed limit, such as when the vehicle is driving down a slope, the higher settable speed limit will be recorded as the set speed.
* If the - SET SW is pressed momentarily (For approximately 0.6 seconds), the set speed will be decreased in increments of 1.6 km/h each time the SW is pressed. However, if the SW is pressed when the set speed differs from the actual vehicle speed by 5 km/h or more, the current vehicle speed when the SW is released will be recorded as the set speed instead of incrementing it.
- Acceleration
* While driving with the cruise control active, pressing and holding the + RES SW will gradually and continually accelerate the vehicle as long as the SW is held down. The vehicle speed will then be controlled using the vehicle speed at the time the SW is released as the set speed.
* When the vehicle speed exceeds the higher settable speed limit while operating the + RES SW, the vehicle will be cease accelerating when it reaches the higher settable speed limit until the SW is released. After the SW is released, the higher settable speed limit will become the set speed.
* When the + RES SW is momentarily operated (For approximately 0.6 seconds), the set speed will increase in increments of 1.6 km/h per SW operation. However, if the SW is operated when the set speed differs from the actual vehicle speed by 5 km/h or more, the set speed will not be changed.
* The vehicle speed at the time the - SET SW was released is reset when the vehicle is accelerated by depressing the accelerator pedal and the - SET SW is held ON. However, if the SW is operated at a speed higher than the higher settable speed limit, the SW operation will not have any effect.
- How to lower the set speed
- The Lower Settable Speed Limit
* This is the lowest speed to which the cruise control can be set and is approximately 45 km/h. It is different from the low limit speed.
* A set speed can not be stored in the memory if the vehicle is driving at a speed below the lower settable speed limit.
- The Low Speed Limit
This is the lowest speed at which he cruise control can operate and is 40 km/h. When the vehicle speed falls below 40 km/h while the cruise control is active, then the cruise control will automatically be canceled.
Both Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode and constant speed control mode store the set speed in the memory at this time.
- The Higher Settable Speed Limit for Radar Cruise Control Setting
This is the highest speed limit to which the radar cruise control can be set, and is set at approximately 135 km/h.
- The High Speed Limit (Only in Constant Speed Control Mode)
This is the highest speed to which the constant speed control mode under cruise control can be set, and is approximately 200 km/h.
- Resume
* If the cruise control is canceled and the vehicle speed higher than the low speed limit, pressing the + RES SW on will accelerate the vehicle to the set speed at the time cruise control was canceled.
* Under the follow-up control, when the driver or vehicle ahead changes lanes and the road ahead is clear, the vehicle accelerates automatically and gradually to the set speed. If the + RES SW is pressed ON at this time, the vehicle speed will increase more rapidly (Only in vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode).
- Shift-Down Control
When the vehicle climbs a hill while driving with the cruise control active, the gear may be shifted down by the A/T control. When the hill climb is judged to have finished, based on the throttle opening information, the gear will be shifted up after a set time.
- Cancel
The cruise control will be canceled if the following signals are received while driving with the cruise control active (Set speed will not be erased).
- The stop light SW comes ON (Brake pedal depressed)
- The D position circuit in park/neutral position SW is turned from ON to OFF
* The shift lever is moved from D to N
* The gear changes to 3, 2, or 1 in sequential shift mode (Shift lever in S)
- The CANCEL SW on the control SW is turned ON
- The ON-OFF SW is turned OFF (Set speed erased)
- The VSC begins to operate
