Center Airbag Sensor Assembly: Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Install the center airbag sensor assembly with the 3 bolts.

      *1 Waterproof Sheet

      Torque: 18 N*m (178 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • If the center airbag sensor assembly has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace it with a new one.
      • When installing the center airbag sensor assembly, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with or is not pinched between other parts.
      • When the ignition switch is first turned to on after the center airbag sensor assembly has been replaced, make sure that no one is in the vehicle.
    4. Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor assembly as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE:

      When connecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    5. Check that the waterproof sheet is properly set.
    6. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the center airbag sensor assembly.

  7. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 30
  8. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 31
  9. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 32
  10. INSTALL AIR CONDITIONER CONTROL ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  11. INSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Seat Heater System)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 39
  12. INSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Seat Heater System)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 40
  13. INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 33
  14. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 55
  15. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 56
  16. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .

  17. PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK 
    1. Perform a diagnostic system check. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
  18. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Inspect the SRS warning light. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
