Rear Speed Sensor: Inspection: Procedure
- INSPECT SENSOR OUTPUT VALUE NOTE:
Resistance inspection using other testers may cause damage to the rear speed sensor internal circuit. Be sure to use the Techstream to inspect the rear speed sensor.
- Switch the ignition off.
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC-2.
- Select the following PIDs using the Techstream:
- WSPD_SEN_LR (LR wheel-speed sensor)
- WSPD_SEN_RR (RR wheel-speed sensor)
- Start the engine and drive the vehicle.
- Verify that the display of the Techstream shows the same value as the speedometer.
- If there is any malfunction, replace the rear speed sensor.
Refer to REMOVAL
- If there is any malfunction, replace the rear speed sensor.
- INSPECT INSTALLATION VISUAL
- Inspect for the following:
- If there is any malfunction, repair or replace the part.
- Excessive play of the rear speed sensor
- Deformation of the rear speed sensor
- Deformation or damage of the ABS sensor rotor
- Adhering foreign matter
- Inspect for the following:
- INSPECT CLEARANCE
- Remove the rear speed sensor.
- Measure the distance between the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor installation surface and the ABS sensor rotor. This is dimension A.
*a Clearance *b 14 mm (0.55 in) *c ABS Sensor Rotor *d Rear Speed Sensor - Calculate the clearance between the rear speed sensor and the ABS sensor rotor using the following formula: Clearance (mm (in)) = A-14 (0.55)
- Verify that the clearance between the rear speed sensor and ABS sensor rotor is as indicated below.
- If not within the specification, replace the rear speed sensor.
Refer to REMOVAL
Clearance
1.183 to 1.957 mm (0.04658 to 0.07704 in.)
- If not within the specification, replace the rear speed sensor.
