Steering Angle Sensor: Inspection: Procedure
- INSPECT STEERING ANGLE SENSOR
HINT:
- If the steering angle sensor is removed from the spiral cable, the steering angle sensor absolute angle could change, therefore, do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
- If the steering angle sensor is replaced, replace it together with the spiral cable.
Refer to REMOVAL
- Remove the column cover.
Refer to REMOVAL
- Connect the plus (+) end of a tester to steering angle sensor terminal 1 and the minus (-) end of the tester to terminal 2 (ground).
- Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
- Turn the steering wheel to the right and left.
- Verify that the voltage between steering angle sensor terminals 1 and 2 (ground) is as indicated in the table.
- If the voltage can be verified as indicated in the table, go to the next step.
- If not as indicated in the table, replace the spiral cable.
Refer to REMOVAL
- Switch the ignition off.
- Connect the plus (+) end of a tester to steering angle sensor terminal 3 and the minus (-) end of the tester to terminal B (ground).
- Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
- Turn the steering wheel to the right and left.
- Verify that the voltage between steering angle sensor terminals 3 and 2 (ground) is as indicated in the table.
- If not as indicated in the table, replace the spiral cable.
