Initializing Tire Pressure Monitor System
During initialization, the tire pressure sensor measures the inflation pressure of the tires, and registers the signals that are transmitted into the tire pressure monitor ECU at a frequency of one per minute. If initialization is performed, the existing tire positions will be cleared, but will be automatically identified when the vehicle is driven at 40 km/h (25 mph) or more for 10 minutes or more (Tire Inflation Pressure Display Function).
Initialization is normally completed within a few minutes. However, it may take 10 minutes or more until the tire pressure of the tire inflation pressure display function is shown (Tire Inflation Pressure Display Function). The initialization process is canceled if the ignition switch is turned to OFF position prior to the completion of initialization. To restart initialization, the tire pressure warning reset switch must be pressed again.
- Park the vehicle in a safe place and stop the engine for 20 minutes or more.
- Set tires to the specified (cold) pressures as indicated on the tire and loading information label.
- Start the engine.
- Select Settings Display (gear icon) on the multi-information display using the meter control switches on the steering wheel. See Fig 1
- Select Vehicle Information (7-inch display) or Vehicle Settings (4.2-inch dispaly) and then press and hold OK.
- Select "TPWS" and then press OK.
- Select "Set Pressure" then press and hold OK until the tire pressure warning light blinks 3 times.NOTE: A message will then be displayed on the multi-information display. "---" will be displayed on the multi-information display for the inflation pressure of each tire while initialization is being performed.
- Drive straight (with occasional left and right turns) at approximately 25 mph (40 km/h) or more for approximately 10 to 30 minutes.
- Initialization is complete when the position of each tire is determined and the inflation pressure of each tire is displayed on the multi-information display.NOTE: Initialization may take longer than approximately 1 hour in certain situations, such as when the vehicle is stopped for a long time at traffic lights, etc.
