Lane Changing Assist (On-Ramp/Off-Ramp): Description And Function: Notes
Lane Changing Assist System Components:
- Windshield camera
- HMI
- ADAS system
Technical Description:
Auto Lane Changing Assist (ALCA) is a driver assistance system that helps drivers wishing to change lanes and guarantees a safe lane change maneuver. As a partially automated driving system, this feature adjusts the steering wheel to move the vehicle to the adjacent lane after receiving a manual request from the driver. The driver must initiate the lane change maneuver. If an object is detected next to the vehicle in the lane that the driver wants to move into, the vehicle will wait or adjust its speed until the object has passed or been passed before changing lanes. Objects driving at fast speeds and approaching from further behind the vehicle are not detected, and so not taken into account.
No matter what the circumstances, the driver must supervise the system and be in a position to take control of the vehicle at all times. Overtaking restrictions (traffic signs or solid lines) are not used as an activation criterion by the system. The driver is responsible for deactivating the system when circumstances do not allow overtaking. This function can only be used in combination with SAE Level 2 Highway Pilot.
The function should be activated if the following conditions apply:
- The absolute value of yaw angle is within the limit value
- The lateral acceleration is within the limit value
- The corner radar is working normally
- The LCA function switch is turned ON
- No driver's hands-off was detected
- The vehicle speed is in the range of 60 km/h to 130 km/h
- The target lane is not occupied
- The target lane is reasonable, including lane width (2.5m ~ 4.4m), lane visibility, and road curvature
- The driving environment should be a highway or similar
- HWA is activated
The function must be deactivated if one of the following conditions applies:
- The absolute value of yaw angle is not within the limit value
- The lateral acceleration is not within the limit value
- The corner radar does is not working normally
- The LCA function switch is timed OFF
- Driver's hands-off was detected
- The vehicle speed is not in the range of 60 km/h to 130 km/h
- The target lane is occupied
- The target lane is not reasonable, including lane width (2.5m ~ 4.4m), lane visibility, and road curvature
- The driving environment is not a highway or similar
- HWA is deactivated
