N = MHU/ADAS are not programmable using the Scan Tool, for MHU using a USB it can be programmed directly.
Please refer to MULTIMEDIA HEAD UNIT PROGRAMMING
For ADAS, flash update is only possible by FOTA
ECU RESET
A service function to reset the ECU. The effect of the reset will vary between ECU's but it simulates either a hard reset which is the equivalent of disconnecting power (battery voltage) from the ECU, or a soft reset which will restart the ECU but without reinitializing previously learned configuration data, adaptive factors or other long-term adjustments.
ECU Replace
A service routine to use whenever a new ECU/System part is to be fitted, the routine will
- Check for the latest SW level and re-program the new ECU if necessary,
- Carryout any necessary identifications, learns and configurations or special functions required for the selected ECU,
- Check for any DTC's
When replacing an MHU ensure the Clear Provision Data special function has been completed on the old MHU before removal.
The ECU replace function in the Scan Tool must be used with the new MHU, and if a software update is required the Scan Tool will advise the user.
You will need to follow MULTIMEDIA HEAD UNIT PROGRAMMING before returning to the Scan Tool and restarting the ECU Replace process.
ECU Reprogramming
A service routine that allows reprogramming the ECU software to the latest available.
Write VIN
A service function to update the VIN number written in the applicable DID in the ECU. Typically, only required when a new ECU is fitted and will be done as part of the ECU Replace routine.
- When used on the BCM the routine includes the Key Fob learn ensuring the Vehicle, BCM & Keys are always matched.
VOD Coding
A service function to update the "current" VOD (Vehicle Order Data) Code written in the applicable DID in the ECU. Typically, only required when a new ECU is fitted and will be done as part of the ECU Replace routine.
The VOD is a numerical representation of the vehicle including information about topology and configuration of the whole vehicle. It includes the whole vehicle variant information like vehicle type variants, vehicle variants, (yearly) model revision, engine type, country and specific options.
CDS Coding
A service function to update the CDS (Coding data string) Code written in the applicable DID in the ECU. Typically, only required when a new ECU is fitted and will be done as part of the ECU Replace routine.
The CDS is ECU specific and contains a sub-set of the VOD that is applicable to that ECU's functionality.
