- Do not commence work until components/liquids have sufficiently cooled down.
- Always use personal protective equipment (PPE).
NOTE:
Contamination
Contamination or moisture entering the cooling system can lead to malfunction or functional failure.
The vehicle cooling system and any removed components should be capped/sealed during work to prevent contamination entry.

Removal Procedure:
- Remove the underbody front air shield. Refer to UNDERBODY FRONT AIR SHIELD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Remove the front trunk. Refer to FRONT TRUNK REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Remove the lid (1).
- Extract coolant with a conventional pump.
- Unlock and detach the coolant pipe (1).NOTE: Environmental Risk
- Collect and dispose of leaking liquids.
- Observe country-specific disposal regulations.
- Clamp off the coolant pipe as indicated (1).
Removal note: Only clamp off flexible hose pipes. Use conventional clamping tools to clamp the pipes.
- Unlock and disconnect the coolant pipe (2).NOTE: Environmental Risk
- Collect and dispose of leaking liquids.
- Observe country-specific disposal regulations.
- Remove 3 bolts (1).
Torque: 8 Nm
- Unlock and disconnect electrical connector (2).
- Unthread and remove the cooling system expansion tank (3) upwards.
Installation Procedure:
- Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following.
All fasteners must be tightened to torque specification!
- Install the front trunk. Refer to FRONT TRUNK REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Install the underbody front air shield. Refer to UNDERBODY FRONT AIR SHIELD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Check coolant level and top up if necessary.
