Press taper roller bearing outer race, without shim, into torque converter housing. See Fig 1 .

Press taper roller bearing inner race onto differential cage. See Fig 2 .

Press taper roller bearing outer race onto stop in differential housing. Fig 3 . Drive fully onto stop using copper drift.

Press taper roller bearing inner race into differential cage. See Fig 4 .

Bolt torque converter housing onto transmission holder VW 353 and insert differential. See Fig 5 .

Insert special tool VW 521 into differential housing.

Install transmission housing then insert and tighten every second bolt in the area of the differential to 25 Nm.

Assemble special tool to measure play. See Fig 6 .

Preload gauge to 1 mm and then "0". Lift and lower differential. Read off and note play on gauge.
