Pinion Shaft, Adjusting: Adjusting

Place two shims (each 1.5 mm thick) -arrow- onto the drive pinion. See Fig 1 .

Place output gear with taper roller bearing onto drive pinion and, with parking lock engaged, tighten hex nut (41 mm AF) to 300 Nm.

Insert dial gauge -A- and zero with a preload of 1 mm. Move drive pinion up and down. Read off play at dial gauge and note (example 0.97 mm). See Fig 2 .
