Selector Lever Cable, Checking: Checking

-- Move the selector lever into the "P" position.

-- Remove the air filter housing, refer to one of the following:

with a gas engine, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

with a diesel engine, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Remove the selector lever cable from the transmission.

-- Move the selector lever from "P" to "S" and back to "P" several times.

• The selector lever must move easily.

-- Adjust the selector lever cable, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .
