Automatic Post-Collision Braking System: Function
The post-collision brake triggers automatic braking when a collision is identified. This automatic brake is designed to prevent subsequent collisions and/or reduce the kinetic energy of a subsequent collision. The post-collision brake can decelerate the vehicle by up to 6 m/s2 . When a collision is identified, the brake and hazard warning lights are also illuminated.
The ESC lamp in the dash panel illuminates to informs the driver about the braking function. The post-collision brake will remain active:
- Until the vehicle reaches approximately 6 mph (10 km/h)
- Until the driver applies the accelerator
- Until the driver applies full braking
This allows the driver to maintain control over the vehicle even after a collision, depending on the situation.
