Control Module For ABSJ104/Hydraulic Unit For ABSN55, Removing And Installing: Removing
ABS Control Module -J104- -1- will be called control module in the information that follows.
ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55- -2- will be called hydraulic unit in the information that follows.
If the ABS Control Module -J104- is Being Replaced, Then the Test Plan for Replacing the Control Module Must Be Performed.
-- Perform the "Control module, replacing" function with the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester. Refer to Diagnostic Entries .

-- Disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the air intake manifold for the heating and A/C unit. Refer to HEATER AND A/C UNIT AIR INTAKE HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Push the locking mechanism downward in direction of -arrow A-.
-- Release the connector -1- in direction of -arrow B-.
-- Disconnect the connector -1-.
-- Insert the Brake Pedal Actuator: VAG1869/2 .
-- Attach the bleeder bottle bleed hose to the left front brake caliper breather valve -1-.
-- Open the breather valve.
-- Attach the second bleeder bottle bleed hose to the left rear brake cylinder bleeder valve -1-.
-- Open the breather valve.
-- Push the brake pedal at least 60 mm using the Brake Pedal Actuator: VAG1869/2 .
-- Close the left front and left rear bleeder valves.
-- Do not remove the Brake Pedal Actuator: VAG1869/2 .
There is a risk of damaging the brake lines by bending.
- Never forcefully bend the brake lines in the hydraulic unit area.
-- Unclip the brake lines from the bulkhead.
There is risk of damage caused by corrosion.
- Make sure no brake fluid gets on the contacts.
- Place sufficient lint-free cleaning cloths in the area of the connectors.
-- First mark both brake lines -5 and 6- and remove them from the hydraulic unit.
-- Close the threaded holes with the plugs.
-- Mark the brake lines (brake calipers/brake cylinders) -1 through 4-, remove and then close the threaded holes.
-- Seal the brake lines with the Engine Bung Set: VAS6122 .
Tip
Alternatively, place the breather valve dust caps on the brake lines.
-- Pull the hydraulic unit and the control module -1- together with the bracket -3- and the rubber bushing -4- in direction of -arrow- upward.
