Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module J764, Removing And Installing: Removing

The Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module -J764- will be called control module in the information that follows.

If the control module is replaced, the test plan to replace the control module must be performed.

-- Perform the "control module, replacing" function using the Vehicle diagnostic tester . Refer to Diagnostic Entries .

-- Remove the lower steering column trim panel. Refer to LOWER STEERING COLUMN TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Unclip the wire bracket -3- for the wire -2-.

-- Disconnect the connector -4- on the control module -5-.

-- Create a center notch on the shear bolts -3- using a commercially available metal saw.

-- Remove shear bolts -3-.

-- Lift the control module -4- with a commercially available screwdriver from the bracket -2-.
