Tip

• All test steps must be performed.
• When the specified values are not reached, check if the selector mechanism control is installed correctly and perform the Guided Fault Finding  function.

Gear Locks- Button Functions, Checking

Test Step 1

Conditions

• Ignition is switched on.
• Brake pedal is pressed.
• The transmission is in position "P".

-- Engage the selector lever position "N", for this, press the selector lever one notch toward the front and let go.

"N" must be displayed on the Selector Lever Transmission Range Display -Y5-.

-- Put the transmission in the "P" position. To do this, press the "P" button.

The "P" symbol on the button must light up as a yellow function lamp.

Test Step 2

Conditions

• Engine is on.
• The brake pedal is not pressed.
• The transmission is in position "P".

-- Pull back the selector lever one or two notches and let go.

Transmission must remain in "P" position.

Test Step 3

Conditions

• Engine is on.
• Brake pedal is pressed.
• The transmission is in position "P".

-- Select "D" position, for this, pull back the selector lever one or two notches and let go.

"D" must be displayed on the Selector Lever Transmission Range Display -Y5-.

-- Select "S" position, for this, pull back the selector lever one or two notches and let go.

"S" must be displayed on the Selector Lever Transmission Range Display -Y5-.

-- Engage the selector lever position "N", for this, press the selector lever one notch toward the front and let go.

"N" must be displayed on the Selector Lever Transmission Range Display -Y5-.

-- Engage the selector lever position "R", for this, press the selector lever one notch toward the front and let go.

"R" must be displayed on the Selector Lever Transmission Range Display -Y5-.

Shift Mechanism, Checking

Test Step 1

Conditions

• Engine is on.
• Selector lever in "D" position.
• Driving speed is at least 4 km/h (2.5 mph).

-- Engage the "N" position.

"N" position is engaged.

-- Engage the "R" position.

"R" position is not possible. "N" position is being engaged.

If the brake pedal is not pressed, then it must be possible to select the "D" position and the drive speed must be higher than 4 km/h (2.5 mph).

Test Step 2

Conditions

• Engine is on.
• Selector lever is in "D", "R" or "N" position.
• The vehicle is standing.

-- Put the transmission in the "P" position. To do this, press the "P" button.

The "P" symbol on the button must light up as a yellow function lamp.

Transmission Range Indicator, Checking

Conditions

• Engine is on.

Test Step 1

-- Engage the positions "P", "R", "N" and "D/S" one after the other.

The driving position currently selected must light up noticeably brighter in the function lighting than the other driving position icons and also in a different color (yellow).

Test Step 2

-- Put the transmission in the "P" position. To do this, press the "P" button.

The "P" symbol on the button must light up as a yellow function lamp.

In all other gear positions, the basic illumination is white.

Display in Instrument Cluster, Checking

Conditions

• Engine is on.
• The transmission is in position "P".
• The brake pedal is not pressed.

-- Select "D" or "R" positions.

The message "To select a gear, please press brake pedal and move the selector lever" must be displayed in the instrument cluster.

Checking the parking lock.

Test Step 1

Conditions

• Engine is on.
• Selector lever is in "D", "S" or "R" position.
• The vehicle is standing.

-- Switch the engine off.

The transmission must switch to "P" position automatically.

Test Step 2

Conditions

• Engine is on.
• Selector lever in "N" position.
• The vehicle is standing.

-- Turn off the engine and open the driver door.

The message "Select P before exiting the vehicle, otherwise the vehicle can roll off." must be displayed in the instrument cluster and a warning tone must sound.
