Checking Intermittent Faults: Notes

  1. Read, record, and erase any ABS/TRACS codes. See ACCESSING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES. Test drive vehicle in an attempt to repeat conditions during which fault appears. Go to TEST DRIVING VEHICLE. After test drive, stop vehicle and check for codes. If codes are present, go to ABS/TRACS DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES table to determine which circuit may be faulty.
  2. If no codes are present, go to SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS and diagnose problem by symptom. If fault code does not appear during test drive, a good description of how vehicle behaved at time of fault can possibly help in locating most likely cause of problem. Go to SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS and diagnose problem by symptom.
