Section 31 (Engine Controls - System/Component Tests - Non-Turbo): Introduction
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Volvo 850. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Before testing separate components or systems, perform basic diagnostic procedures in BASIC TESTING - NON-TURBO article. Since all monitored components set a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) if they malfunction, see appropriate article:
- For 850 Non-TLEV (A/T), see TESTS W/CODES - MOTRONIC 4.3 - NON-TURBO .
- For 850 (M/T), 850 TLEV and 850R, see TESTS W/CODES - MOTRONIC 4.4 - NON-TURBO .
NOTE:
Testing individual components does not isolate shorts or opens. Unless stated otherwise in test procedure, perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens.
