SRS system: SIPS-function

Activation occurs as follows:

3 ms after the sensor is activated the bag begins to inflate. A detonator ignites an explosive charge (1), pressure increase occurs which presses off a cap at the end of the gas reservoir (3).

Gas from the gas reservoir flows into the mixing section (2) and mixes with the explosive gas, the gas heats up and expands, the lower section of the bag fills up (10 ms). The upper section of the bag is inflated as the gas is pressed up from the lower section as it expands (25 ms).
