DTC 441: Main Control Module Relay

  1. Determine whether fault is permanent or intermittent. If fault is permanent, go to next step. If fault is intermittent, go to step 7).
  2. Check identification code on lower left corner of ABS control module product plate. If identification code begins with S1, go to next step. If identification code does not begin with S1, replace control module.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control module. Connect breakout box. Check voltage between breakout box pins No. 8 and 9. If battery voltage is present, go to step 6). If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
  4. Check fuse No. 11/14 in engine compartment fuse box. Replace as necessary. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is not okay, replace fuse and check Red/Black wire for a short to ground between fuse No. 11/14 and ABS control module terminal No. 9.
  5. Check voltage supply to fuse No. 11/14. If battery voltage is present, check Red/Black wire between fuse No. 11/14 and ABS control module terminal No. 9 for an open circuit. If battery voltage is not present, check voltage supply to fuse for an open circuit.
  6. Check ABS control module connector for poor terminal contact. Repair as necessary. If terminal contact is okay, replace controlmodule.
  7. If fault is intermittent, check identification code on lower left corner of ABS control module product plate. If identification code begins with S1, go to next step. If identification code does not begin with S1, erase DTC. If DTC reoccurs, go to next step.
  8. Check for an open circuit in Red/Black wire between ABS control module terminal No. 9 and battery voltage. Repair as necessary. Erase DTC.
