Removal & Installation

  1. Remove insulation panel on driver side. Panel sits in grooves at pedal box. Pull panel straight down at dashboard and then pull backward. Lift panel out. Remove side panel covering fuses on left side of dash. Insert a screwdriver between bracket and relay box and turn to open bracket. Pull relay box out of bracket toward underside of dash and lift box off bracket. Pull relay box out under dash. See Fig 1.

  2. Record all customer-programmed data before removing control module. Information will be entered into new module. Remove fuses 11C/32, 11C/52 and 11C/21 before disconnecting control module connector. See wiring diagrams.
    NOTE: Check connector and module pins for damage. This may be cause of fault.
  3. Loosen screw holding connector. Use pliers to disconnect connector. Pull screw straight out so connector and cover follow.
  4. Remove relays and shunts attached to control module. Record each location. Release catch at rear. Use a screwdriver to lift catch and pull out control module. See Fig 2.
  5. Install in reverse order. Ensure connectors are not damaged and cover is correctly positioned. Use Volvo VADIS system to load new software.
