Description Of Frozen Values: Status
A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) stored in the engine control module (ECM) can be found in four different status positions:
- Temporary : When a fault is detected by the engine control module (ECM) the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is first stored in the Temporary status.
- Not Yet Stored : If the fault remains at the next diagnosis the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored in the Not Yet Stored status.
- Stored : If the fault is still active at the next operating cycle, the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored in Stored status.
- Erased : If an existing fault disappears and does not recur after a certain number of fault-free operating cycles, the engine control module (ECM), stores the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) as status Erased depending on the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and previous status of the diagnostic trouble code (DTC). The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) remains here until the engine control module (ECM) is erased of diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) or is disconnected from current.
HINT: The diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in Temporary, Not Yet Stored and Stored are read in the normal manner. When reading with Reading off extended diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) can also be read in Erased status.
