Parking assistance system (optional extra)
There is a parking assistance system to assist parking. The parking assistance system consists of:
- four parking sensors in the rear bumper
- four parking sensors in the front bumper (option)
- the parking assistance module (PAM) under the rear relay box.
The parking assistance module (PAM) communicates with the rear electronic module (REM) using serial communication. The signals transmitted contain information about status and diagnostics. The sensors are directly connected to the parking assistance module (PAM). The sensors are also powered via the parking assistance module (PAM).
The parking assistance module (PAM) is powered and grounded via the rear electronic module (REM).
The parking assistance system is activated via a switch on the dashboard environment panel for the climate control module (CCM). An LED lights in the switch when the system is active.
The rear sensors detect objects within 1.5 meters if back-up (reverse) gear is selected. There is a beeping noise from the rear loudspeakers. The sound intensifies as the vehicle gets nearer to the object. The sound is constant from approximately 30 cm.
The front sensors (option) detect objects within 0.8 meters if back-up gear is selected or if the car is driven forwards at a speed below 10 km/h. There is a beeping sound from one of the front loudspeakers. The sound intensifies as the vehicle gets nearer to the object. The sound is constant from approximately 30 cm.
In the event of a fault in the parking assistance module (PAM) or sensors, the general warning lamp in the driver information module (DIM) lights and a text message is displayed.
The parking assistance system can be temporarily deactivated at lower speeds. This is done manually using a switch on the dashboard environment panel for the climate control module (CCM). The LED in the switch goes out when the system is deactivated.
There are diagnostics for the parking assistance system
