Information about the car configuration is sent on the CAN network. Depending on the model and equipment, the car can be configured in different ways. The central electronic module (CEM) sends the applicable signal ID for the car. The transmission control module (TCM) compares this ID with the one stored internally in the software. If these do not correspond, this means that the software in the transmission control module (TCM) does not match other software in the car and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored.

Substitute Value 

• Emergency program Emergency mode 1 in the transmission control module (TCM) has been initiated.

  HINT:  EMERGENCY MODE IN THE EVENT OF A FAULT 

Possible Source 

• Faulty software in the transmission control module (TCM).

Fault symptom[s] 

• Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
• General warning lamp lit
• Harsh gear shifting
• No shifting.
