The function of the media players, MD player (MP1) (16/107) and CD player (MP2) (16/106), is to play back minidiscs and compact discs.

The media players receive input signals from the infotainment control module (ICM) (16/1) via the MOST network. The signals indicate when the user has pressed the Play, Stop or Eject buttons for example.

The MD and CD control modules have next/previous track, fast search forwards and reverse and random play (RND) functions. The CD changer also has a function for selecting the desired disc.

When playing back discs, the MD player (MP1) (16/107) or CD player (MP2) (16/106) transmits a signal on the MOST network to the audio module (AUD) (16/105) which then transmits signals to the loudspeakers and the headset outputs. Text stored on the discs is also transmitted via the MOST network to the display on the infotainment control module (ICM).
