Downloading Software And Replacing The Control Module

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 12 other vehicles, including the 2014 Volvo XC90, 2013 Volvo XC90, 2012 Volvo XC90, 2011 Volvo XC90, and 2010 Volvo XC90. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

New software can be downloaded into the phone module (PHM). When ordering software, the hardware and the software in the car is compared to the Volvo central database. If the comparison is OK the software is downloaded to the control module.

If the comparison between the car and Volvo central database is not OK, the database is updated with the car configuration. When this is complete the software is downloaded.

The control module is positioned behind the center console.

After replacing the control module, check the unique serial number of the infotainment control module (ICM). If the serial number is not correct, the installed control module is not functioning.

If problems arise after downloading the software and the control module does not function, try switching the ignition off and then on again.

When totally reloading the software in the car, select CAN network.
