DESCRIPTION
Volvo Cars of North America, LLC (Volvo) has decided that a defect exists in certain model year 2010 S80, V70, XC70 and XC60 Partial Zero Emissions Vehicles (PZEV). The engine may stop at idle due to a disturbance in the signal between the crankshaft speed sensor and the Engine Control Module (ECM). If this condition occurs and when the vehicle is restarted, the engine may run unevenly and the vehicle may need to be restarted again in order to regain normal engine behavior.
Volvo has determined that these vehicles may not fully meet the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) exhaust emissions standards.
This condition will not affect the drivability or safety of the vehicle. However, in certain cases this may cause the vehicle to fail a state inspection or Smog Check test.
Recall 225 affects 6,971 vehicles in the U.S.
SERVICE
The corrective action is to upgrade the ECM software using VIDA.
Part no 30788936 valid for XC60.
