Remote Key Warning (USA/Can)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Volvo V70, 2009 Volvo V70, and 2008 Volvo V70. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Remote key warning alerts the driver, by means of a text message and an audible acknowledgment signal, not to leave the remote key in the vehicle.

The central electronic module (CEM) receives an indication from a contact breaker in the lock unit that the driver's door is open. The contact breaker is directly connected to the central electronic module (CEM). If a remote key is in the starter module when the driver's door is opened and the engine is switched of the central electronic module (CEM) transmits a message via the controller area network (CAN) to the driver information module (DIM). The driver information module (DIM) then activates an audible acknowledgment signal and shows a warning message in the text display.
